This piece is a collaboration between Marie Okuma Johnston (@m.okumajohnston), Eugene Tagawa (@ogugtag), and Erin Shigaki (@purplegat3), and was created to commemorate the 81st year from the signing of Executive Oder 9066. This piece recognizes the parallels between current day detention centers and the forced removal of Japanese Americans. The top third of the piece depicts scenes from 1942 transitioning to scenes of the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, WA.
